Curious About Botox®? A First-Timer’s Guide to Personalized, Natural-Looking Results
Maybe Botox® has crossed your mind.
Maybe you’ve been curious for months but keep thinking:
“I don’t want to look frozen.”
Maybe there’s one line you suddenly notice every time you look in the mirror.
Or maybe you’re in a completely different place.
You’ve been working on your health, losing weight, building better habits, feeling stronger, and becoming more comfortable in your own skin—and now you’re simply curious about what else might help you feel like the version of yourself you’re growing into.
That doesn’t mean you suddenly need aesthetic treatment.
It simply means you’re allowed to explore it.
At TTW Aesthetics, curiosity is enough of a reason to start the conversation.
First things first: Botox doesn’t have to change your face
One of the most common concerns I hear from first-time clients is:
“I still want to look like myself.”
Good.
That’s the goal.
Botox® is a neuromodulator that temporarily reduces activity in specifically selected facial muscles. How much movement is softened depends on your anatomy, muscle strength, treatment areas, dosing, and—most importantly—what you want your result to look like.
Some clients want:
softer forehead lines while keeping natural expression
less movement between the brows
softened crow’s-feet around the eyes
a subtle lip flip
a refreshed, less tired appearance
a smoother, more defined result with less movement
There is not one Botox look everyone should want.
And there shouldn’t be.
Natural? More defined? Somewhere in between?
This is where personalized treatment matters.
One person may tell me:
“I want people to think I look rested, but I don’t want them to know why.”
Another may say:
“I really don’t mind having less movement.”
And someone else may sit down and say:
“I honestly have no idea. Help.”
All three are perfectly reasonable starting points.
My role is to assess how your face naturally moves, listen to what you want, explain what is realistically and safely achievable, and help build a treatment plan around you.
Sometimes that means starting conservatively.
Sometimes someone prefers a little more movement reduction.
Sometimes the best decision is to wait.
There is no pressure to become an “aesthetics person.”
Your friend’s unit count probably doesn’t tell us much about yours
This comes up all the time.
“My friend only gets 20 units.”
“My sister gets 35.”
“Someone online said I need 40.”
The problem?
Faces are not interchangeable.
Two people can be the same age and have completely different:
facial anatomy
muscle strength
movement patterns
treatment history
baseline lines
aesthetic goals
That’s why TTW Aesthetics treatment is based on your movement, your anatomy, and your preferences—not someone else’s number.
Before treatment, we review the areas being considered, recommended units, and anticipated cost so you understand the plan before anything begins.
What does a first Botox appointment actually look like?
Usually, much less dramatic than people expect.
We talk first.
I want to know:
What are you noticing?
What bothers you—if anything?
What do you like?
What do you absolutely not want changed?
And what kind of result would feel comfortable to you?
Then comes the glamorous part where I may ask you to:
Raise your eyebrows.
Relax.
Frown.
Relax.
Smile really big.
Frown again. 😂
Those expressions matter because Botox treatment is about movement, not just what your face looks like while perfectly still.
You do not need to know the names of your facial muscles.
You do not need to arrive knowing how many units you need.
And you do not need to commit to treatment simply because you scheduled a consultation.
A consultation can just be a consultation
This is especially important for first-time clients.
You can come in and ask questions.
You can hear what I would recommend.
You can understand the likely cost.
You can decide to think about it.
Or you can decide you feel comfortable moving forward.
A complimentary consultation is an opportunity to explore your options—not an obligation to receive treatment.
That is exactly how I want it to feel.
What happens after Botox?
Treatment doesn’t end the moment the injections are finished.
Botox takes time to develop and settle, which is why I like reassessing results around the 2-week mark.

At follow-up, I’m looking at things such as:
movement
symmetry
balance
how the treated areas responded
whether the result aligns with the goal we discussed
For remote follow-up, I may ask for standardized progress photos showing three angles and several expressions—including relaxed, brows raised, brows furrowed, and a full smile—so I can actually evaluate how the muscles are moving. Your TTW photo guide uses front and angled views with those same expressions to make this easy for clients to reproduce.
And yes, I may very professionally ask you to “cheese hard.” 😂
Clear lighting, consistent distance, no filters, and keeping the full face visible make those photos much more useful for reassessment. The male version of the guide follows the same standardized approach, reinforcing that this process is not gender-specific.
If taking photos yourself feels awkward, we can also determine whether a brief virtual follow-up is appropriate.

Here’s an example of how we standardize 2-week follow-up photos so I can assess movement, symmetry, and results.

Where aesthetics fits into the bigger TTW picture
This is where TTW Aesthetics naturally connects with the work we already do through weight loss and wellness.
Because transformation is rarely only about pounds.
As people progress through a weight-loss journey, they may begin noticing changes in:
energy
strength
confidence
clothing fit
routines
nutrition
body composition
facial features
the way they see themselves
Sometimes that leads to curiosity about other areas of self-care.
That might mean strength training.
Better skincare.
Wellness support.
IV hydration.
Botox.
Or absolutely nothing aesthetic at all.
None of those choices makes your transformation more or less successful.
Aesthetic care is not the “next required step” after weight loss.
It is simply anotherTW option available as your goals evolve.
Weight loss can change the face, too
As body composition changes, some people notice less facial fullness or more definition in areas they didn’t pay much attention to before.
Sometimes they love the change.
Sometimes they notice something new.
Sometimes it simply starts a conversation.
The goal should never become:
“I lost weight, so now I need to fix my face.”
A much better question is:
“As I settle into this version of myself, is there anything I’m interested in exploring?”
That is the kind of conversation TTW is built for.
Aesthetics should not be about finding more things wrong with yourself
Lines are normal.
Movement is normal.
Aging is normal.
Faces are supposed to have expression.
You do not need to turn every normal feature into something that needs correction.
At the same time, wanting an elective aesthetic treatment doesn’t make you vain.
You’re allowed to enjoy how you look.
You’re allowed to soften something that bothers you.
You’re allowed to want subtle.
You’re allowed to want something more defined.
And you’re absolutely allowed to say no thanks.
Your goals matter.
You do not have to be a TTW weight-loss client
Although TTW Aesthetics naturally grew alongside our weight-loss and wellness community, aesthetic treatment is available independently.
You may already be part of TTW.
You may be completely new to us.
You may be considering Botox for the first time.
You may already know exactly how you like your treatment.
Men and women are welcome.
First-timers are especially welcome.
The starting point is the same:
Let’s figure out what makes sense for you.
Curious? This is a great time to explore.
TTW Aesthetics is currently offering an introductory Botox® rate of $10 per unit for eligible treatments completed during September–October 2026.
Regular TTW Aesthetics rate: $12/unit
Your total treatment cost depends on the number of units recommended and actually administered, and that is reviewed with you before treatment begins.
There is no obligation to proceed during your consultation.
Come ask the questions.
Let me look at your movement.
Tell me what you want.
Tell me what you definitely don’t want.
Then we can decide together whether Botox belongs in your plan at all.
